Cricut Embossing & Deep Cut Blade Housing

Have ya'll seen the Cricut Embossing Folder Kit? The embossing folder retails for $8.99 as well as the Emboss Refills so the price isn't too bad. Only thing is you do need the Cuttlebug to use them but hey, most of us either already have a Cuttlebug or are planing on getting one so that's no problem. Now here's the deal on the folders:

Cricut Embossing: Now you can create personalized embossing folders using any Cricut design!

1. Cut design from plastic sheet using Cricut machine.

2. Adhere design inside blank embossing folder.

3. Use embossing folder in Cuttlebug Die Cutter and Embosser.

Another item worth mentioning is the new Deep Cut Blade & Housing. You can slice thicker material with ease because the shorter housing provides greater clearance for heavier materials, allowing you to cut material up to 1.5 mm thick. You can use it for chipboard, wood veneer, magnet sheets, vinyl and much more! So now all you gals that have been wanting to cut your own chipboard can. Waalah!

  1. I'm wondering how the embossing folder works. The CBug folders have both a positive and negative side. When you cut out your design with the Cricut, does it create both a positive and negative?
    Thanks,
    Sandi

  2. The Cricut folder is just like the Cuttlebug folders only it has no pattern. You have to buy the refils (come 2 to a pack). You then cut a design from the plastic refil sheet using your Cricut machine and then adhere the design inside the blank embossing folder. You then use it as you would any Cuttlebug A2 Embossing Folder.

  3. Sandi, Every cut you make on the Cricut has a positive and negative. You would put the part you would normally keep on one side, and the part you would normally throw away for the negative on the other. I was thinking some cuts will be harder to get lined up than others!

  7. Yes, the Cricut Create...M's has exclusive rights to it right now but it will be available to other vendors around October when all the new cartridges come out.

  8. Can you tell me if there is any difference between the red replacement blades and the blue blades? I pre-ordered the heavy-weight setup but I see that the blue blades are available now. I love your site. Thanks!

  9. Hi Carolyn, from what I understand, there is no difference between the red replacement blades and the blue blades. Thanks for the compliment! ~Linda

  10. I know these are really old comments, but there is a difference between the blades! The red is the regular blade and the blue is the deep-cut blade. It has a different angle (90 degree) than the red (45 degree) and is made of heavier-duty metal!

  13. And can you use the regular blade in the deep blade housing? I just got my hands on a used Cricut E but the blade housing is missing and the deep cut is the only one I can find. Also can you cut regular paper with the deep cut?
