Several of my friends have been having the same problem. The cricut site was down for maintenance the other day and I think that is what has caused the issues. My one friend just finally got her update completed.
I read on a blog (don't remember which one) that there is something wrong with the latest update and that you should wait for the next one because it will be fixed then
Linda--having issues myself :-) I called Provo Craft last Friday b/c my new purple cricut was crap and asked about the gypsy issue(they told me the week before I may have to return the gypsy for a replacement)--they told me they actually released an update that day. I immediately went and updated it and used it for a few hours on Sunday with absolutely no problems!! You might try it.
Just got an out of office reply last night from customer service @ cricut. They said their server was down and DO NOT (it was in caps like that) attempt to update your Gypsy at this time. It will not work and only cause issues with your Gypsy. They advised waiting until you see posts on the MB that all is good before attempting to update. Glad I was just trying to find someplace to tell them how funny I thought the Cricut 5th Anniversary video was and that it made me laugh after such a LONG week of work. It was good to get that warning as I was going to update this weekend!

i'm having problems with my gypsy as well but with the plug where you charge it,it is so loose that it won't charge unless i put something under it to hold it & that only works sometimes i haven't even had it a year yet & the cartridge car decals will not link to my gypsy it keeps going back to the welcome screen. pc wanted to reset everything but i would lose all my cartridges i have 49 linked to it & i'd loose them all
